My road is being repaved this week. The wizards from the highway department repaired the drains at either end of the short street and now it’s time to hide the drains and make everything look neat and tidy beneath a road of asphalt. But things have been delayed. Off and on rain has kept the men in their trucks far away.
I had my car parked out front… then moved it to the end of the driveway to give the machines the room they will need. Had to move the car again… further down the way, to avoid having pebbles and little rocks of tar from spitting about.
… ‘Tis a sad time… not only stuck inside because of the dredded coronavirus, the rain, but now the asphalt still to pour. And it’s damn cold outside! 38 degrees in April??? Come on, nature gods. Warm it up already.

I’m lucky though. Still am here in one piece, feeling healthy in spite of a slight sore throat. Have plenty of food… although the variety is getting slim. But I’ve made cookies. Have electric power… a bookcase full of old movies, and valid subscriptions to Amazon Prime, and Brit Box…. and, of course, the internet which keeps us all connected.
I guess it’s time to stop complaining, play some Word Chums, pick up a good book and sip a cup of tea.
Tarring the road as a way of keeping your dear sister at a distance is a bit over the top in “separation” compliance don’t ya think?
