It’s been nearly two years of a pandemic… We finally realized the trouble we were in by the Spring of 2020… Social distancing and shots… masks and coved strains you’ve never heard of…
No where to go, no one to see without danger lurking on every surface or around every corner…
I’ve been very lucky… have friends who zoom, a writer’s group that skypes once a week, and of course, there is the phone and email…. staying in touch has been a challenge… but making it happen.
I’ve been out and about… always with a mask or at a distance… grocery store, post office… most of my shopping is done on-line and that has been a bit of a relief… no worries there… and thankfully banking is online now, so money keeps flowing. I’m able to pay my bills and that’s saying something.
But this damn mask has got to come off! I know, I know, it gives protection… but it’s hard to breathe sometimes. I bought cloth masks that had pretty flowers printed on them… but I hear, cloth is not good protection… I bought a new batch of masks… N95 which are supposed to be better…I wear that style on the bus to Boston… but as soon as you walk into a hospital or doctor’s office they give you a new mask… light blue, with pleats…. I guess the doctor knows best… so I save ’em… never can have enough masks… though I would really like to chuck ’em all.

I love my masks. Last winter I got through the whole season without the flu, a sore throat, the common cold, and other contagious illnesses so easily transmitted by well meaning but unconscious friends and acquaintances. Can’t complain about that. I have enjoyed not needing to wear a mask outside this summer, but I am gearing up for mask wearing again…blue pleated, triple layer cloth, home-made or purchased, color-coordinated with my wardrobe. I will take them all… Happy and grateful to be healthy. I know more than a few people who were not so fortunate.
I too have been very lucky, and my family too. No Coved that I know of amongst the relatives. I am now in search of a booster shot. The information is a bit confusing… I will wait and consult my doctor for best advice. I got the J&J shot back in March of this year… and you???
