On the road tomorrow. This time heading south.
The Tee Club from Hingham is heading out for their yearly journey to visit new and challenging golf courses. This year, it’s Naples, Florida.
We leave first thing tomorrow, so today is run around and pack day for me. Just returned from my golf course here on the Cape. I had to pick up my clubs that were being regripped! Got them done, just in time. My game has not been great this season, so anything to improve the possibilities for a better score… and new grips will help.

The next task is to pack for two days’ travel, three days of golf and all the time in between. After doing this for a few years, I’ve learned to keep things very simple. I need to divide everything between my golf bag and a carryon. We’re flying JetBlue. The first bag used to be free. But no longer. $30! for the first bag, and $40 for the second bag. As I have no choice but to check my golf bag…with clubs, balls, shoes, and a few golf outfits, I’ve decided to simplify and use a carryon to keep baggage fees as low as possible.
Luckily, this group always dresses on the business casual side of fashion when stepping out at night… so that should be easy enough.
I may or may not bring my computer. I’ve got an iPad with a keyboard and that should suffice for the few days I’m away. As long as I can check my email and find the golf courses via GPS, I should be good to go.
Meantime back to packing.

One last item: I don’t sleep well at night – and listen to music or an audiobook. Last year, my roommate almost threw me out the bedroom door! So this year, I purchased a blue tooth headband to wear. I’ll connect it to my ipad or phone, and if it works properly…. it won’t disturb anyone. It just came in the mail from Amazon. I’m going to test it out later. I will let you know how it goes.
Hmmm, have fun golfing!
And maybe look into the possible health risks associated with EMFs and sleeping with a Bluetooth headband on. Maybe less of a risk than roommate aggression though.
How was your trip?
Golf in Florida was fine… but it rained two days and we found ourselves playing in a Monsoon one day, and dodging raindrops the next. Biggest problem: CartPaths only! When the course is that wet, they don’t let you drive the golfcarts on the fairway so you have to walk from the path to your ball, over and over again. Adds a lot of time to a round of golf. We were exhausted by the time we were done. And temps and high humidity didn’t hel!!!! Still we pushed on. Bold golfers, we.
