Tried making biscuits for my beef stew last weekend… Awful! Seems I was making crumbs for the local mallards!
I have had a bag full of crumbs sitting in the cold of my back porch for over a week. This morning it was more than time to take them south to the coastline and feed the local wildfowl.

A lot of ducks find the nearby shoreline a friendly and safe spot to hover… I knew if I packed up my biscuit crumbs and headed to the beach I could not only get in a morning walk but feel all warm and comfy in the thought I was contributing to the health of our local duck population.

First, I mashed what was left of the biscuits into crumblies… then headed out with a full bag of tasty morsels. Eagerly, I tossed fistfuls of crumbs towards the ducks… a few paid attention to the free food, most did not…
They were more interested in swimming in circles and ducking for whatever bugs they could find on the water…
It took a while, but I finally managed to empty the contents of my plastic bag into the water and along the shoreline. A few ducks will be happy.
Oh well…. enough of John James Audubon… Next time I’ll keep the biscuits whole. Better yet, skip the biscuits.
Skip the biscuits. Stick with making bricks…much tastier.
Hmm, maybe the ducks would have ignored us even if we’d thrown our bread crumbs near them when we walked to the point.
