My house sits on the “Turkey Oregon Trail”… every turkey in town seems to run through my yard… traveling from one side of town to the other… at least twice a day.
Early morning, standing at my kitchen sink doing the morning dishes… dozens of turkeys trot by… no exaggeration… I tried counting one day… I had to stop when I got to 87. That’s when they started flying and jumping over each other and I lost count.

Don’t get me wrong, I like turkeys… especially at Thanksgiving… I find them quite tasty…. especially with cranberry sauce… but when they run in a flock… or more properly – a “rafter” of turkeys – a herd by any other name… they leave a lot of poop behind. I go out for a casual walk and come back with my sneakers polluted with their gunk. No fun!!!
So this morning when the rafter started flocking in a herd through the yard, I decided to go out and block their path. I didn’t bring a stick or a club… just me and a snarl on my face and my iPhone camera at the ready. As soon as the lead turkey saw me, the herd stopped… but I couldn’t stare forever… eventually I went back inside and the parade continued.
Do you have rafters of turkeys flocking your property of a quiet winter morning? What do you do? Please advise.

When I see them coming I go out and give them directions to your house! You’re welcome.
NASTY!
