Starting to Sweat!!!

Posted on January 22, 2020January 22, 2020 by Pat Mullaly

Back to the gym today. Checked out the machines again and talked with trainer Brandon, a mid-thirties guy with a lot of brightly colored tats on both arms. Very cool… but not my cup of tea.

I signed up for a new class to design my own fitness program with him and I chose my special exercise focus. I’m interested in improving my golf swing this season and he will develop a plan for me. I think it will work. And if it doesn’t? Oh well… easy enough to change it.

Today I walked a mile in my own shoes and lifted some weights to smooth my lumpy frame. Good things on the horizon. ?

The gym was full of “blue hairs”…. anyone over 40 is a “blue hair” in my book… and Brandon told me I should avoid exercising between 5 – 7 pm as that’s when it is really crowded with the millenniums… you know, young and vibrant types who monopolize the equipment and sweat up a storm.

For my part, I would prefer to rise from my bed at a reasonable hour, saunter down for breakfast and check the temp outdoors. If it’s warm enough, I’ll prance around my own neighborhood, but if it’s really crispy as it was this morning, I will head to the gym before lunch and squeeze in a quick mile or two on the treadmill. I checked out the machines – especially one for abdomen crunches (to flatten my belly) and the “torso twister” to do just that… twist my torso and get me ready for the upcoming golf season. Got to twist and turn to swing my driver long and true.

So I was at the gym for a little over an hour… a good beginning. I checked out the locker room, the TV connection (need to remember to bring earphones) and the upcoming class schedule. I looked but could not find the tanning beds… but will do that next time. I’m heading south in a couple of weeks and need a “base” to make me beautiful. More on that later. 🙂

Good for you! Glad you like it.

The abdomen crunchers and the torso twisters sound advanced for a beginner. But that’s just me, a non gym person. The tanning salon sounds just right for you!

Watch out for your back…start slowly. No tanning bed. Get a tan sprayed on if you must look darker. Working aside millennial crowd might be inspirational. Torso twister sounds like the Inquisition. Think aerobic.

Of course, and then you will need yet another cortisone shot!!! Is chasing a little ball worth it, sistah?
