It’s November 1! And time for NaNoWriMo! – The National Novel Writing Month. 50K words and a “finished” novel by November 30!

I’m at my desk, using this post as a warm-up tool before plunging into my novel. I’ve been working on it since last year, with little progress to show for all my efforts. The problem is in my mind.
I have an idea, begin to write, then, have a better idea, and begin to change directions, then I have another thought, and think better of it, and then I go back and switch things around to comply with my original thinking… then, that’s not good enough, I think… and I scrap the whole thing.
Sigh.
You can see why progress is slow…
As it is with this “warm-up” post. Still, I have promised myself I will write each day and get myself into the mood and habit.
I just received a quick post from Anne Lamott, a writer from CA. She is just a “twitter” friend, but I take her advice seriously. This morning her words seemed most encouraging.
“Set the habit. One hour, or one page, one passage, one day at a time. Victory! Go get ‘em.”
So, I’m off to the races — such as they are. Determined to keep the pace in spite of myself. I will share my success as I progress! Hey! that rhymes. I’m a poet and didn’t know it! Hark, the Lark! Another verse.
My goodness. I am clever, after all. 🙂
