We knew it was coming…. all the weather reports let us know days ahead… but nothing can really prepare you for the wind and it’s destruction… We were lucky in my town… lost power for a day, but no longer… all food and frozen vegetables survived. Trees came down, but only in the woods behind the house… and in the cemetery where the neighbors don’t really mind… they are focused on another plane of existence…
The boats in the harbor were all pulled out (save for the dredger which is always there, and two little skiffs…. one being the focus of my sister’s worry… but they don’t seem to be damaged, though I wager, they are drowning in seawater and will need to be baled out …

Had an appointment in the next town this morning… gas stations have no power so cannot pump gas, and most stores remained closed…
The one spot that was doing a bang-up business: Dunkin Doughnuts… people were lined up in their cars at the drive-thru… the line stretched for blocks. Luckily, my sister has a generator and invited me over to perk my own brew so I was satisfied. Happily.
Quite a storm. Thanks goodness for sisters!
The storm left us with a heck of a cleanup job. It will ensure we get lots of time outside in November. Hopefully it will stay in the 60’s a little bit longer. Every once in a while Mother Nature reminds us who is really in charge.
