Setting Things Up

Posted on June 18, 2019June 19, 2019 by Pat Mullaly
Keyboard with Hands

WordPress —the platform I use for websites and blogging— has just undergone a major redesign. Thank the powers that be! I’ve been working for years building websites using html code, and struggling to understand what I’m doing.

Finally! An intuitive interface that works for my designer’s brain has been introduced. It’s named after the famous printer, Gutenberg… you know the fellow who printed the bible back in the middle ages.

It took a bit of experimenting, taking a chance to dismantle an old website… and the courage to let literally weeks of work to disappear into the ether, to start using Gutenberg on my own website… but I’ve done it, and you, dear reader will be the first to reap the benefits.

A bit of trivia as background…

Gutenberg

Johannes Gutenberg has been called the most influential figure of the last millennium, yet he stands as one of the great question marks of history. Scholars don’t know when he was born, whether he married or had children, where he is buried or even what he looked like. He never made any money from his book… He only printed 180 copies of the book and his printing partner sued him. Gutenberg was left in financial ruin and lived out his years in poverty.

The last sale of a complete Gutenberg Bible took place in 1978, when a copy went for a cool $2.2 million. A single volume later sold for $5.4 million in 1987, and experts now estimate a complete copy could fetch upwards of $35 million at auction.

Just goes to show, you never know when you will get your reward for all the hard work you put in…

Keep on, keepin’ on.

Watcha lookin for?

Disclaimer

Dillard Beach Mystery, A Work in Progress is a work of fiction. Names, characters, business, events and incidents are the products of the author’s imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. Descriptions of herbal remedies are invented and should be treated with a large dollop of skepticism.
