I’ve been taking time off from writing my novel… no excuse for it… need to regroup, rethink, refocus… and I am doing so… glad for the COVID… it gives me an excuse for sitting around, not accomplishing anything in particular… there will certainly come a point when I look back at these days and wonder how I let the time slip by without accomplishing anything. So much time for learning, for exploring new ideas… not driving long distances into the woods after a new experience… but opening up a book and learning a new skill.
But, I am lazy. I spend most of the time I have watching the news or watching old movies… many I have seen at least once before. I know I’ll regret the time lost…

I do have a challenge approaching. On November 13 (LOL at the coincidence of Friday the 13th!) the doctor will open up my shoulder and replace the bones with a new and improved ball and socket. This will allow me to live without pain — a good thing, I think. And, if all goes well I shall be playing golf by spring!… Right now, golf is done for me this season. My handicap has reached new heights (not a good thing) and I must prepare for a new beginning.

In the meantime, I am purchasing what I think will be essentials for my recuperation. I’ll be wearing a sling on my right arm as I heal, so no heavy dusting or cleaning will happen… (Thankfully no one will be visiting – The pandemic keeps all at bay.)
Here are just a few things I have begun to collect: loose-fitting scrub pants – easy on easy off… slip-on shoes, zip-up vests and sweatshirts… (we are heading towards winter here in the northeast)… and a new mouse device for my computer which can be handled vertically to avoid any stress on my right hand and elbow. And biggest of all, I am renting a power lift recliner… they who know, say it is the best place to sleep after shoulder replacement surgery.
My sister sent me a zip-up vest with a special pull strap so I can wear it while in the sling… must practice that!!!
Just a few things so far…. more to follow… I am busy making bread and cookies that I will freeze for later consumption. And thinking about food delivery and preparation. 🙂
All good. More later.
