I keep a pretty tight yard… mow the lawn, pick out the weeds (the big ones at least)… and try to have the place looking if not tip-top, shipshape, it’s never sloppy and overgrown…

So it was a real mystery to me this morning when I went out to water the plant at the front door to discover old dried up maple leaves scattered all across the front lawn. Where did they come from? I certainly did not spread old leaves across the grass.

Then I started thinking… If an animal had crawled out from under a nearby bush and had a fight with a massive racoon or bear or vampire, they might have scattered old leaves that had been hiding under the bush since last fall….
Possible? I know there were old leaves tucked under the bushes… and there are wild animals about… I’m not certain about the vampires, but raccoons are all over the Cape….
What do you think? Should I hire a guard to keep my lawn safe? Perhaps one of those garden gremlins? They’re scary enough to keep wild animals at a distance….
