Banishing Weeds Sans Chemicals

Posted on June 27, 2020July 26, 2020 by Pat Mullaly

I decided to attack the weeds that are crawling all over my front walk. They manage to find a way through and around the bricks that were laid down years ago… it isn’t hard as the bricks are loose. So my walk is spotted with all sorts of odd bits of green growth and weeds.

I went online to find an “Au Natural” weed killer as I don’t want to pollute the earth with any more chemicals. Found what I hope is a good “au natural” formula that you concoct from common household products.

1 Gallon of white vinegar plus 2 cups of white table salt plus 1 Tablespoon of Dishwashing Liquid.

Mix it all together and spray it on the offending weeds. The vinegar / salt mix will make the leaves go brown, and the dishwashing liquid is supposed to make the spray stick to the plant…. ate least for a while. It’s best to do it when the sun is shining as the sun helps to bake in the liquid….

Who knows if it will work. I mixed up a batch this morning, rolled up my long pants and put on my flip flops, and headed out for a spraying session. Only took 15 minutes (I don’t have that many weeds…)

The only difficulty is the ingredients! Now that I have completed the application, the front walk smells a little like a deli.

It will probably only last as long as the sun does (they are predicting rain later today)….

But we shall see…. Better than having to pull each weed by hand!!!

Watcha lookin for?

Dillard Beach Mystery, A Work in Progress is a work of fiction. Names, characters, business, events and incidents are the products of the author’s imagination.
