Baking Toxic-Free Cookies

Posted on April 9, 2020April 9, 2020 by Pat Mullaly

I decided to conquer my fear of toxic baking and pulled out the bag of chocolate chips I bought just last week. Time to make some cookies!

It’s a “no fail recipe” from the back of the package. Hasn’t changed in years. My mother used the very same recipe. The only difference between her baking and mine, is I don’t get to lick the beaters. (I found out about salmonella and getting the dreaded dribbles from eating raw cookie dough.)

So… super simple. Pre-heat the oven, drag out the old mixer, measure out the ingredients and voila! Cookie dough! I’m making batches to eat, store and give away. The give away batch goes to my sister to prove I can bake without including toxic chemicals. I’ll walk them over to her later this afternoon.

Meantime, as the timer ticks away, I’m listening to a new selection from Spotify – the online music program. The music I like for baking is slow and sexy… cool jazz… Ella, Norah Jones, that sort of thing… the great thing about Spotify… if you like a selection from the list they suggest you can “like” it with a heart, so it and songs like it will show up next time or you can “nix” it and it will be sent to the nether world… I can be ruthless when it comes to “nixing”… 🙂

So it’s a good day. Cookies and music and not a one burnt! Yummmm!

I can attest that the cookies were very good, non toxic, not burnt and I am alive and well. We are always grateful for cookies, especially on a chilly, wet day.

Disclaimer

Dillard Beach Mystery, A Work in Progress is a work of fiction. Names, characters, business, events and incidents are the products of the author’s imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. Descriptions of herbal remedies are invented and should be treated with a large dollop of skepticism.
